    AASA, founded in 1865, is the professional organization for over 16,500 educational leaders across North America and in many other countries. The four major focus areas for AASA are: Improving the condition of children and youth, preparing schools and school systems for the 21st century, connecting schools and communities, and enhancing the quality and effectiveness of school leaders. The organization sponsors a special interest group for rural administrators, and a search for "rural" yields timely news and resources about rural education topics.

    National Rural Education Association

    The National Rural Education Association is the oldest established national organization of its kind in the United States. Formerly known as the REA, the Association traces it's origins back to 1907 when it was originally founded as the Department of Rural Education. Through the years, it has evolved as a strong and respected organization of rural school administrators, teachers, board members, parents, regional service agency personnel, researchers, and business and industry representatives.

    What Kids Can Do is a national nonprofit organization that promotes the value of young people working with teachers and other adults on projects that combine powerful learning with public purpose. WKCD collects and shares feature stories, student work and voices, research and resources that expand current views of what constitutes challenging learning and achievement, particularly for adolescents.
